Two high profile celebs with some PR problems hit the talk show circuit late last week to deal with their issues up front (sort of). With Oprah and Larry King gone from daily TV you take what you can get, so it was Jay Leno and Good Morning America,
Matt Lauer found probably the most sympathetic ear he could find in Jay Leno, given his late night "TV Wars" issues over the last 3 years and the fact that both Jay & Matt are on the same network. So Jay didn’t really deal with ANY details of Matt’s recent troubles with the media perceiving him as the guy who got Ann Curry forced out of the "Today Show." But for the record, here’s what he had to say. (Click for Story Here)
Then there’s Reese Witherspoon, who couldn’t keep it together during a traffic stop by the George State Police after a night out with her hubby. While the cops were giving him a sobriety test she kept getting out of the car, a BIG no-no, and was arrested for disorderly conduct amidst her comments of “Do You know my name” and “This will be national news tomorrow” all caught on the dash-cam.
Reese opted to cancel her scheduled TV appearances to promote her new movie "Mud," which subsequently TANKED last weekend at the box office. She opted to let things settle a bit and go for the more calming atmosphere of GMA and George Stephanopoulos. She looked sincere, or at least pretended to be, when she apologized (below) and it seems all will be good. That is, until the above dash-cam video was made available right after.
And I do thing walking around with an Atlanta Police baseball cap over the weekend might be overkill.
