In 1997 Kevin Kline starred in a movie called IN & OUT about a high school teacher who questions his sexuality after a former student outs him as gay while making an Oscar acceptance speech. The situation (if not the sexual uncertainty) derived from an actual incident when Tom Hanks in 1994 thanked his gay high school drama coach for inspiring him to become an actor.
